Jeopardy is the debut studio album by English post-punk band the Sound, released on 1 November 1980 by record label Korova. The album fared poorly commercially, but received critical acclaim. One single, "Heyday", was released from the album. Following their 1979 EP Physical World, the band started work on a full-length album. Impressed by the rough mixes, Korova signed the group.

According to Jon Lucien himself, the record company was attempting to package me as a sort of ‘black Sinatra’. Once the white women started to swoon at my performances, their attitudes quickly changed. That raw fragility, though, is where Rumours thrives. Rot was his first solo album, and saw him ditch the quirky sound-art of his prior work (with Kluster, especially) in favour of two extended compositions for the EMS Synthi. These pioneering pieces set a high water mark for electronic music – seemingly formless and improvised, careful listening reveals overlays of rhythm, harmony and even melody.
