Fantasma is the third studio album by Japanese recording artist Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada), released on August 6, 1997 on his label Trattoria. Oyamada envisioned the album as "a one-on-one experience between the music and the listener. It starts with you entering into the journey and ends with you returning back to reality. It peaked at number 6 on the Oricon Albums Chart and number 37 on the UK Independent Albums Chart.
Last year, Japanese crazy artist Cornelius' American debut, Fantasma, found itself at or near the top of hundreds of critics. Of course, Cornelius has more going for him than just the silly. First off, he's a pretty awesome producer- Fantasma was clear evidence of the fact that he's got skillz in the studio. Third, he's got connections. Connections? You read right, sweetheart.
Two companion remix albums FM - Fantasma Remixes and CM - Cornelius Remixes were released the following year. The former is composed of music from Fantasma remixed by other artists. The latter is composed of remixes by Cornelius of the most of the artists that contributed to FM - Fantasma Remixes. The track "Star Fruits Surf Rider" was released as a single on November 2, 1998 and was covered by Mitsuki Aira for her 2008 double A-side single, "Darling Wondering Staring"/"Star Fruits Surf Rider"
