The seat of the Duke of Norfolk is Arundel Castle in Sussex, although the title refers to the county of Norfolk. The current duke is Edward Fitzalan-Howard, 18th Duke of Norfolk. Succeeding his father as duke of Norfolk in 1524, he headed the faction opposed to Henry’s chief minister, Thomas Wolsey. Upon Wolsey’s fall in 1529, Norfolk became president of the royal council. He supported the marriage of his niece Anne Boleyn to Henry in 1533, but, by the time of Anne’s fall in 1536, his relationship to Henry had already been weakened by the rise of Thomas Cromwell. The 17th Duke of Norfolk, who has died aged 86, rose to the rank of major-general in the Army and was a non-executive director of a City merchant bank before inheriting the titles and duties of England's premier duke and Earl Marshal at the age of 59. He showed his mettle immediately, cancelling a plan to give the ducal seat, Arundel Castle, to the National Trust, and declaring that the horse racing which had interested his predecessor was "a mug's game". The ease of transition to his new status was all the more impressive for the fact that the inheritance had been no more.

Notes

A physical copy of the of the (almost) exclusive-to-kickstarter EP, Gregory & Syme, handmade by Adam with signed and numbered linocut cover.

"This is a collection of recordings made throughout the course of 2014 & 2015 which, despite having no previous association, were polished and gathered together into this set to give, as a thank you, to those who supported a kickstarter-funded video project in mid 2015.

After the recordings were polished, the linocut artwork printed, and the kickstarter rewards fulfilled, I was so proud of the result that I printed a few additional copies to allow others the opportunity no nab one if they so wanted. Those additional copies didn't last long and so the album disappeared from the internet.

Now, with little ceremony & nearly two years later, I've decided to revive it–in digital form only–and offer it free it as a download.

I do hope you enjoy it,

- Adam Howard / Dec 8th, 2017"
