Recently, the Billy Graham Rule has made its way back into popular debate when the public learned that a prominent politician observes it. Many argued that women are unfairly stigmatized and penalized by the rule, while others claimed that the rule simply serves to keep men in check and protect both women and marriages. I believe that Graham’s rule is well-intended, but it does not address the heart-level issue of sexual sin or sexual abuse. It merely shifts the blame, reducing women to temptresses or objects. Women become the problem and men are safer without them. Consequently, men are excused from wrestling with and overcoming their own sin. Passages in Scripture do exhort us to flee from temptation, and there are certainly women who have had inappropriate relationships with married men. So, I understand the desire to fiercely protect something as precious as a marriage.
Mallory: The past year of my life has been a complete mess. Flunked out of school. Mallory: I miss Heartland, Jack. I even miss this barn. Georgie: He sure did. Amy: Well, Phoenix looks to be okay. But I wanna get him checked out, just to be sure. Georgie: Maybe Ty can do it? It's cool that he'll be back tomorrow. Yeah, I haven't even planned anything. I should get on that? He doesn't want a big party. Georgie: I'm sure Ty just wants to see you and the baby.
George Mallory was a famed British mountaineer and explorer. Mallory was 37 at the time and jumped at the chance to take part in such an exciting adventure, as he feared his advancing age would make it impossible in the future. On June 4, 1924, Mallory and his climbing partner Andrew Irvine left the Advanced Base Camp and set out on their own. According to the porters left behind at the camp, Mallory was certain that the pair would be able to summit the mountain and make it back to the camp before nightfall. The two climbers disappeared that day, and it took more than 70 years for anyone to find their bodies.
George Mallory (18 June 1886 – 8 June/9 June 1924) was a Himalayan mountain climber who famously perished on Mount Everest in 1924.
Mallory and his climbing partner Andrew Irvine both disappeared somewhere high on the North - East Ridge in an attempt to get to the top. The pair's last known sighting was a few hundred feet from the summit. Mallory's fate was unknown for 75 years until his body was discovered in 1999.
