Sheryl Crow is the second studio album by American singer Sheryl Crow, released on September 24, 1996 by A&M Records. Unlike its predecessor Tuesday Night Music Club, which was written by a casual collective formed by Crow and several other musicians, Sheryl Crow was entirely produced by Crow, who wrote most of the songs alone or with only one collaborator. Most of the album was recorded at Kingsway Studios in New Orleans, Louisiana

A few years later, Travis Tritt recorded an answer to the song, aptly titled "Strong Enough To Be Your Ma. 7. Sheryl Crow - "Soak Up The Sun"
Sheryl Crow still lives in Nashville, but she’s way over her flirtation with that town’s reigning genre, which lasted for all of one album. The process of promoting 2013’s Feels Like Home – which she refers to as her mega-country record – soured her on the country biz, and led her back to her actual musical home: the rootsy, tuneful crunch of her early albums. In Heartbeat Away, on your new album, a president launches nukes. Do you have apocalyptic fears? My sleep has been disturbed.
But she herself is not using it today. Fifteen minutes into our interview Crow takes a phone call and then collapses to the floor. At first I think she is laughing hysterically, but the black rivulets running down her face make it clear she is weeping uncontrollably. We have met at her home, a sprawling ranch outside Nashville where she lives with her two adopted sons, aged seven and four
