Talking Heads second album More Songs About Buildings and Food, released in 1978, the record included a hit single, a cover of Al Greens Take Me to the River, which gained the quartet commercial exposure. In March 1979, the members played the song on nationwide U. S. music show American Bandstand. In the days after the performance, they decided they did not want to be regarded simply as a singles machine, Talking Heads entered a New York City studio without a producer in the spring of 1979 and practiced demo tracks. In 2003 the album was ranked number 382 on Rolling Stone magazines list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, in 2006 it was ranked the 45th best album of the 1970s by Pitchfork Media. It was ranked number 57 on Rolling Stone magazines list of the greatest albums of 1967–1987, in 2005 it was re-released and remastered by Warner Music Group on their Warner Bros.
