Complete your Etnica Group collection. Quite an interesting release from the Etnica Group. The best track for me is Fingers. The track starts off moody and dark. Hahaha" sample is a funny/awkward add, depends whether jocular themes in goa are enough to prevent your enlightening process heh. Half way through the track a juicy synth-line starts repeating itself all the way till the end. Some of the rawest, simple output from Etnica lab but the nostalgic in me can't get enough! The track Big Dust In Chapora Fort is also nice.

The pioneering group Etnica is composed of Ibiza-based producers Max Lanfranconi and Maurizio Begotti from Milan, Italy. The two of them along with Carlo Paterno and Andrea Rizzo, who were part of Etnica as a quartet, profoundly influenced the psychedelic trance movement. Their sound, distinct from others in the Goa Trance scene, takes you on an immersive journey. They maintained this spacey and cosmic sound which would prevail in most of their releases to date. Etnica released their first EP on Brainstorm in 1994 titled The EP. Their first full-length album, The Juggeling Alchemists Under The Black Light, was released a year after on the German label High Society. These first few releases increased their popularity among the followers of the psytrance scene.

Their first EP was published on Brainstorm Records in 1994, and was entitled "The EP". Their first album, "The Juggeling Alchemists Under The Black Light", was out in 1995 on the German label High Society. This helped the band to build a solid reputation in the Psychedelic Trance scene. Their second album, the classic "Alien Protein", was released in 1996 on Blue Room Released. The band, beside producing music as Etnica, had the idea of creating a party-oriented side project and after some thoughts the name Pleiadians was forged.

Epica Etica Etnica Pathos (Epic, Ethics, Ethnic, Pathos) is the last studio album released by the Italian punk rock band CCCP Fedeli alla linea in 1990. It sounds completely different from their previous works, and could be considered as the real first album by . The short, fast, hard music, with stripped-down instrumentation and punk rock melodies were substituted by a more melancholic and declamatory vein.

For me a significant track in the development of Goa trance is "Big Dust in Chapora Fort", an unforgettable number for anyone who went there. It is easy to visualise a gaggle of hippies raising the dust in the fort looking onto the moonbathed silver coast of Goa, the stars high above. Hypnotic, dubby, full of dust, I guess the guys had a good time there, because soon this was their basic soundtrack. Starting with birdsong, a high Goa kick at dub pace, rattling percussion and twisting bass 303, this is blissed out plateau music. Even the piano melody manages to not sound like a piano, and the Italo/trance elements, unlike in the other tracks on the ep, are not so apparent. Moody background minor chords slowly rotating towards the end brings a sweet psychedelic melancholy and cosmic vibe. The linearity, long slow build, melody and cosmiche sensibility of this track mark it out as Goa; Etnica would go on to drop the piano and lay on the layers. But this track could still be played today. ~*~

Soft piano chords in the track give the track overall trancey, light feel. This vinyl gives a great idea how rapidly Etnica progressed in their sound, being their first release it flirts to regular trance of its time and just a few elements justify (plus the later history of the group) people to tag this goa. A year later they already made excellent productions such as the Pleiadians vinyl on Symbiosis.
