From the liner notes: Originally broadcast: October 30, 1938, on CBS Howard Koch's adaptation of . Wells' "The War of the Worlds. Parts of these recordings may contain some scratches or surface noise. This is not a defect of the recording, but the condition in which this transcription survived. The original discs were stored, borrowed, shuttled around or discarded.

The War of the Worlds (radio drama). The War of the Worlds" is an episode of the American radio drama anthology series The Mercury Theatre on the Air directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles as an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds (1898). It was performed and broadcast live as a Halloween episode at 8 . on Sunday, October 30, 1938, over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network.

You are bidding on the vinyl LP The War of the Worlds signed by legendary filmmaker Orson Welles. Welles has signed the cover in blue ink. This is the original recording of Welles' infamous radio drama that caused a panic when people became convinced aliens were actually attacking the Earth. The cover has some surface wear (discoloration, smudges) and bumped/frayed corners. The top and bottom edges of the album are slit and have been taped in an attempt to repair them. The original sleeve is contained, but it is significantly slit along the edges
