Later, Jim McCall and I partnered in a band called The Appalachian Grass and we played for 3 years at another local club called King’s Row. Both bands also travelled the country playing festivals, colleges, conventions, and other showdates. I find the McIntyre system encourages students to learn and understand the timing of all the rolls. This understanding of timing is critical to any musician, especially to a banjo player.

Bluegrass Music Sound Traditions, Appalachian Mountain Gospel Music. This album is part of that archival catalog. The label owes its Arcadia, California start to Uncle Jim O'Neal whose vision was to release the music of many top bluegrass and old-time musicians in the 1950-70s, seeking success where Starday had failed by producing records of limited appeal by lesser known, albeit talented, musicians. Another band taking advantage of Uncle Jim's business arrangement was an Ohio bluegrass band, Jim Greer and the Mac-O-Chee Valley Folks. They produced three albums on Rural Rhythm.
