Homeshake - Fresh Air album download

On his third album, Fresh Air, Sagar incorporates new tropes, including AM-radio yacht rock and quiet storm R&B, into his practice. Three albums in, it seems like Sagar still has some learning to do. All over Fresh Air lay old tropes: bursts of static, helium-inflected voices, scratchy sound, guitar noodling. The album also lacks cohesive pacing; its level of energy is low enough that it easily becomes background listening.

Fresh Air is the third studio album by Canadian recording project Homeshake. It was released on February 3, 2017 through Royal Mountain Records in Canada and Sinderlyn record label in the United States. The first track off the album, "Call Me Up", was premiered on November 1, 2016. Musically, the album expands on the electronic R&B sound of the previous record Midnight Snack (2015) and incorporates yacht rock influences for a "thrift store synth-pop sound.

Following the stripped-down, melancholy electro-R&B of his 2015 album Midnight Snack, Homeshake's Peter Sagar expands on this sound with the less weird, more refined Fresh Air. As with before, the songs on this album are still constructed with sparse drum machines, cold synths, and a smattering of tasteful guitar licks. Here, he relies less on Ween-like vocal pitch-shifting trickery and focuses on more direct sentiments.
