Fear, Emptiness, Despair (1994) by Napalm Death. Labels: Earache Records. Genres: Grindcore, Death Metal Members: Mark "Barney" Greenway, Mitch Harris, Jesse Pintado, Shane Embury, Danny Herrera. Fear, Emptiness, Despair Information. Track listing (Songs).

Fear, Emptiness, Despair is everything you could want from a death/grindcore hybrid. It's uncompromising attitude in Barney's lyrics and screaming to the buzzsaw guitars and pounding drums is just oozing anger, and from the get-go with Twist The Knife (Slowly) it does not let up. The speed isn't particularly frenetic in comparison to the earlier days but it makes up for it with a characteristic weight it is difficult to hear in another band. Fear, Emptiness, Despair is amongst the finest death/grind hybrids of all time if not the best. Napalm Death is certainly one of the best metal bands of all time, and whilst almost none of their releases slack this stands above a number of them.

Fear, Emptiness, Despair is the fifth studio album by British grindcore band Napalm Death, released on 31 May 1994. Napalm Death's inclusion on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack brought significant exposure to the band and this album, alongside the fact that the band's label Earache had formed a partnership with Columbia Records which allowed the album to disseminate to a wider audience. RAW magazine listed Fear, Emptiness, Despair as one of the essential album of the 1990s.

Fear, Emptiness, Despair. Release date: May 31st, 1994. Co-produced by Napalm Death. Recording information: Recorded at Parr St. Studios, Liverpool, Oc. Nov. 1993 and Jacob Studios, Surrey, No. Dec. 1993 Remixed at Battery Studios, Ja. Feb.

Fear Emptiness Despair is the culmination of Napalm Death's early-'90s meanderings. Everything comes together here, resulting in the album that Harmony Corruption (1990) and Utopia Banished (1992) had foreshadowed - unrelenting grindcore as played by an experienced, technically advanced death metal collective with the guidance of a professional producer (Pete Coleman). Hung," "Twist the Knife Slowly," and "Plague Rages" are hands down some of Napalm Death's best songs ever, and the remaining songs aren't far short of the mark
