The Smugglers are a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia. The band consists of vocalist Grant Lawrence, guitarists Nick Thomas and David Carswell, bassist Kevin "Beez" Beesley and drummer Graham Watson. Past members include Paul Preminger (drums, 1988-1991), Adam Woodall (harmonica and guitar, 1988-1990), Bryce Dunn (drums, 1991-1998), Danny Fazio (drums, 1997) and John Collins (bass, 1997).
Vancouver, BC garage-punk combo the Smugglers was formed in 1988 by singer Grant Lawrence in tandem with guitarists David Carswell and Nick Thomas; bassist Adam Woodall, and drummer Paul Preminger completed the original lineup, which issued their debut single "Up and Down" on the tiny Nardwuar label in 1990. Bassist Beez replaced Woodall for the 10" At Marineland issued the following year, while Bryce Dunn assumed Preminger's drumming duties for the 1992 LP Atlanta Whiskey Flats.

The Smugglers is the completely missing first serial of the fourth season in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 10 September to 1 October 1966. Although audio recordings, still photographs, and clips of the story exist, no episodes of this serial are known to have survived. The Doctor's new companions Ben and Polly arrive with him in the TARDIS on the coast of seventeenth century Cornwall.
This collection of early Smugglers tunes does the best job capturing their frenetic style. The album usefully compiles the best bits of their previous works - "Atlanta Whiskey Flats" and "At Marineland", adding a loose 45-RPM track from 1992 and nine previously unreleased studio cuts, two of which predate "Marineland" by a year.
