Although I was present at Sweden Rock Festival 2009 I didn't witness this particular performance since Uriah Heep headlined the Wednesday kick off of the festival. This was quite unfortunate since I usually skip that first festival day simply because it usually doesn't offer as many highlights as the next three days.
In 2009, Tony Carey and three other ex-members of Rainbow, Joe Lynn Turner, Bobby Rondinelli and Greg Smith teamed up with Jürgen Blackmore, Ritchie Blackmore's son, to form Over the Rainbow to perform Rainbow songs in concerts in Russia and Eastern Europe. Due to illness, however, Tony Carey left Over the Rainbow in the spring of 2009, just prior to the band's live debut at the Sweden Rock Festival, where he was replaced by Paul Morris. In March 2009 Carey was diagnosed with a virulent form of bladder cancer. At one point he was told his odds of survival were ten percent.
Over the Rainbow is the debut album of the child singer Connie Talbot, and was released 26 November 2007 by Rainbow Recording Company
Sweden Rock Festival. Live at Sweden Rock Festival 2009. And Uriah Heep could still deliver all the metallic bombast on the concert stage, as heard throughout Live at Sweden Rock Festival 2009. The track listing wisely sticks to the classics, as only two songs - out of nine - from Wake the Sleeper are performed. What you'll find are fine renditions of such vintage classic rockers as "Easy Livin'" and "Sunrise," and tracks that showcase the group's love of blaring organ ("Gypsy").
