I Don't Want You Back is the debut album by American R&B singer Eamon, released in the United States on February 17, 2004. Produced by Milk Dee and Roy "Royalty" Hamilton, the album spawned two singles which combined modern hip hop with classic doo wop: "Fuck It (I Don't Want You Back)" and "I Love Them Ho's (Ho-Wop)". The album garnered a mixed reception from critics who found the production too predictable, and the repeated profanity wearing
His Jive debut plays off the song's success; I Don't Want You Back includes not only the uncut audio version but its video as well. Helming principals Milk Dee and Mark Passy have also followed through with a handful of songs that retain "Fuck It"'s stuttering, streetwise production. Get Off My Dick!" situates snippets of drum'n'bass beats around a simple organ loop as Eamon lays down another kiss-off; it's reminiscent of the Streets' Original Pirate Material in both its sound and conversational tone.
Most of I Don’t Want You Back isn’t clever or well-constructed enough to transcend the misogyny and double-standards put on whorish display (he likens taking a girl out to training a dog on the Timbo-lite Girl Act Right while his vocals sound like they were spliced together by someone who just learned how to use ProTools) . But despite its ballroom strings, finger-snaps, and throaty spoken-word bridge, comparing it to Vogue or Erotica would be too easy.
