Written-By – Lonnie Liston Smith. Great funky jazz album. Only thing that I utterly hate on this album is the really bad vocals luckily the instrumentals are what are the real meat of this album. The instrumentals are top notch with a very eastern melodic fortitude and the band is tight. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful. Very beautiful album. Stunning sounds all the way. Really good space jazz. As Dean Rudland points out in Ace's 2014 reissue of Lonnie Liston Smith's 1974 set Cosmic Funk, Smith himself views this LP as a transitional effort, capturing him between his pioneering work with Miles Davis' electric group and the exploratory Expansions.

Lonnie Liston Smith, Jr. (born December 28, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia) is an American jazz, soul, and funk musician who played with important free jazz artists such as Pharoah Sanders and Miles Davis before forming Lonnie Liston Smith And The Cosmic Echoes, recording a number of albums widely regarded as classics in the fusion, Quiet Storm, smooth jazz and acid jazz genres.

Much of the record showcases the smooth vocal stylings of Smith's brother Donald, who leads on a vocal version of John Coltrane's "Naima," lends a bit of a supper club vibe to "Beautiful Woman," croons through "Peaceful Ones," and dives into the thick, overlapping grooves of the title track
